ebb and flow

i love the ocean and beautiful beaches.

not to swim or sun-bathe

but to simply bask in the glory of God’s creations.

admiring the vivid colors, beautiful sights and sounds.

watching and listening to the waves swell and come crashing to the shore.

enjoying the warmth of the sun on my face and the feeling of sand between my toes.

the unmistakable salty smell coming in through the breeze.

children playing, flying kites and couples walking hand in hand.

even a surfer hoping for that one epic wave that will send him gliding back to shore.

admiring the tenacity of seagulls hovering above waiting for that one tiny morsel of food.

building sand castles, collecting sea shells and hunting sand dollars.

relaxing with a book in one hand and a tropical drink or a corona in the other. take your pick.

napping. day dreaming. people watching. being inspired. writing poetry.

writing messages in the sand. a love note, perhaps? sending a message in a bottle. what would it say?

getting lost in the moment, in awe of the beautiful changes in color as the sun prepares to set.

taking a moment to reflect in those final moments before the last bit of sunlight fades.

feeling renewed and refeshed.

just as the tide ebbs and flows so do we.
