Do you ever feel like you start things and never finish them? Or like you have too many pots on the stove? It’s not just me? Good.
There are so many things that I love to do and want to be good at that I have a hard time finding a good balance. For instance, I love comics, but I currently have a stack at least a foot high that I haven’t read because something else grabbed my attention. Then there is cooking. I really want to be a better cook, so I devote a lot of time to trying new recipes and that’s why comic reading has gone to the back burner. Oh, and did I mention I’ve also decided to give photography as a hobby another go? And that I want to write more and blog more consistently?
See what I mean? Too many pots, tiny stove. It’s super hard to balance when each one of these things means a lot to me. First world problems, right?
I was talking to my husband, Mike, about this yesterday and he suggested picking a day for each thing. Mike can cook, but I love to cook and try new recipes so that will be pretty much a nightly thing, but after dinner I’d choose one thing to focus on each night. Ideally, I’d like to blog at least 3 times a week. So blogging could be Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Photography would most likely be a weekend thing or whenever really because I plan on carrying my camera around a lot more. I could read some comics on Tuesday night for like an hour or something and Thursday, well I’m not sure what Thursday would be. Even with all of that I would still be able to spend time with Mike in the evenings, and continue our Jeopardy watching obsession while we eat dinner or hanging out doing random things on the weekend.
Speaking of photography……
My mom, step-dad and I went to Alpine Groves Park yesterday and I ended up taking about 200 pictures. After editing, I only ended up loving about 15 of them. I’m still learning but I really enjoyed getting out and really trying to learn my camera. The other night I read through the manual to familiarize myself with settings and was really happy with what I managed to retain.
I’m going to close this out now, but I wanted to include a few of the pictures I took yesterday. They’ve been resized for the web, so hopefully they look as good as they do on my computer. I’m aware some of the photos are lacking in sharpness or not perfectly exposed, but my skills are a work in progress and overall I’m happy with the results so far.
As always, thanks for reading and I hope you all like the pictures!
